The Cincinnati Symphony and Pops Orchestra's Chris Pinelo calls LumenoCity a beautiful marriage of incredible orchestral music and remarkable technology and animation. About 5,000 people gathered at Washington Park for Thursday night's rehearsal of the CSO's annual music and light show.
"I can't think of another orchestra around the country that is doing an event that garners so much attention, so much enthusiasm," said Pinelo. "This weekend, between the dress rehearsal and three performances, over 40,000 people will get to experience the Cincinnati Symphony and Pops Orchestra."
LumenoCity runs Friday through Sunday, starting at 8:30 each night. The free tickets were gone in a matter of minutes when they were made available to the public in June. If you weren't able to get a ticket, Pinelo says there are other ways to enjoy the event (even if you're halfway around the world).
"There's a free webcast at LumenoCity2014.comfor all three performances--Friday, Saturday and Sunday," he said. "So anyone around the world--we heard from someone from India yesterday that they're going to be tuning into LumenoCity via the World Wide Web."
You can also hear the concert Friday night on 90.9 WGUC. Saturday, CET and WCPO will carry the second half of LumenoCity, starting at 9:30 p.m. Sunday, the entire event will be shown at two simulcast sites-- Riverbend and Fountain Square.
Pinelo won't say what changes have been made to LumenoCity this year, but he does say the music and show will be completely different.
"I don't want to give away any surprises here, but there will be some audience engagement and activation, as well. "
Pinelo says he's confident that if you experienced LumenoCity last year and said "Wow," you're going to say "WOW!!" to this year's.
