A Tribute to Tim Goshorn on the Blues
Join us this Saturday night, June 17th at 11pm, for a one-hour tribute to local music legend Tim Goshorn who passed away a couple of months ago. The special begins with a song he recorded for the Get Real Gone: Road Songs for Public Radio cd, "Jesus and Elvis."
Then you'll hear a roundtable discussion recorded in WVXU's studio on May 31st. Brian O'Donnell hosted the discussion of Tim Goshorn and his music with Bob Nave, Marcos Sastre, and Jim Hunt in the studio with Gary Burbank and Bam Powell on the phone. (The photograph was taken after the recording session.)
On Sunday, June 18th at 2pm (doors open at 1pm), Play It Forward has put together a memorial concert in Oakley at the 20th Century Theatre in Tim Goshorn's honor with funds going to his family to help cover medical bills. There'll be a lot of bands playing all afternoon. And, there will be a concert poster for sale as well as a silent auction and cds of Tim's band's cd which is being re-worked for the occasion.
After the roundtable discussion in this evening's special tribute, I picked out a number of songs that Tim recorded including four with his brother Larry in The Goshorn Brothers, a couple from his time in Pure Prairie League (Just Fly cd), and two from his Tim Goshorn Band cd. And, two of The Goshorn Brothers songs were recorded live at Tommy's on Main. (Please note that he joined Pure Prairie League in 1977 and left in 1978 for The Goshorn Band.)
Sunday's concert at the 20th Century Theatre will be a who's who of Cincinnati musicians and a do-not-miss event!
