Hamilton County has a2013 budgetbut unlike the past few years, the vote was not unanimous. All three commissioners said they'd hoped to have a unanimous vote, but lone Democrat Todd Portune says he simply couldn't vote yes.
"I believe that there are measures that are available at our disposal that would help us bridge the crucial gap of next year without having to make the kind of cuts that are called for in this budget,"he says.
Board President Greg Hartmann says the plan he authored is sound and balanced.
"I think that this budget contains the cuts which are required due to continued declining revenue but also invests in the future and future economic growth," he says.
The 2013 budget represents about $14.4 million in cuts. Layoffs are expected.
