The Importance Of Vision Screening For Infants And Children

Children with uncorrected vision conditions or eye health problems face many barriers in life. And vision doesn't just happen, a child's brain learns how to use eyes to see, just like he or she learns how to use legs to walk. The longer a vision problem goes undiagnosed and untreated, the more a child's brain learns to accommodate for the  problem.

Here to discuss childhood vision are Dr. Karla Zadnik, dean of the College of Optometry at The Ohio State University; and, optometrist Dr. Josiah Young with Opticare Vision Centers.

Under the American Optometric Association's public health program InfantSEE®, participating optometrists provide a comprehensive infant eye assessment between 6 and 12 months of age at no-cost.

Dr. Young is speaking at the ECP Network National Member meeting on August 22 at Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati, on "The Power of Social Media." Optometrists, ophthalmologists, practice owners, opticians and optical staff who would like more information, click here.
