New Book Explores Cincinnati's Female Arts Contributors Throughout Time

Provided

When former president and CEO of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation, Kathy Merchant pitched the idea for a book about Cincinnati's artists there was just one catch. ArtsWave CEO and President Alecia Kintner wanted the book to be all about women.

There a many men who have made amazing contributions to Cincinnati's arts community, but ArtsWave was in the middle of an 18-month campaign, the "Power of Her" celebrating the achievements of women in art and coinciding with the centennial of the 19th Amendment. So, Kathy Merchant's new book, published by ArtsWave, “Imagineers, Impresarios, Inventors: Cincinnati’s Arts and the Power of Her," was born.

Joining Cincinnati Edition to discuss the publication is author Kathy Merchant.

Correction: During our interview it was stated that Ixi Chen with the CSO plays the saxophone. That is incorrect. She plays the clarinet.
