A new production at the Cincinnati Opera explores the transgender experience and invites the public to join a series of panel discussions. In the contemporary chamber opera As One, a mezzo-soprano and a baritone performer both depict the role of Hannah, a transgender woman.

The Cincinnati Opera is hosting a series of free panel discussions in conjunction with the production, including a discussion on the voice, and how speech pathologists work with patients who are transgender.

Joining Cincinnati Edition to discuss transgender voice therapy and As One are The Harry T. Wilks Artistic Director of the Cincinnati Opera Evans Mirageas; University of Cincinnati Department of Otolaryngology Speech-Language Pathologist Renée Gustin; and Cincinnati Children's Division of Speech-Language Pathology Speech-Language Pathologist John Fredeking.

For more information on the upcoming community programs and to purchase tickets to As One visit the Cincinnati Opera's website.

Tune in to Cincinnati Edition July 25 at 1 p.m. to hear this segment.
