Since it is required these days that everyone place themselves in some kind of generational category, let's get mine out of the way right away.

Wright-Patterson Air Force Base officials Wednesday released some of the findings from an investigation into an active shooter-false alarm incident last August. In a lengthy report, investigators detailed communication problems they found led to a “completely uncoordinated and ineffective” emergency response.

Officials say the response could have resulted in serious injury or property damage.

Wright-Patterson Air Force Base officials say there was no “real world” active shooter incident at the base Thursday afternoon. False reports of a shooter at the base's hospital situation triggered an hours long base-wide lockdown.

The new head of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base takes command Thursday.

Col. John Devillier will be installed as commander of the 88th Air Base Wing during a 10 a.m. ceremony at the National Museum of the United States Air Force. He replaces Col. Cassie Barlow who is retiring.

Until now Devillier served as Commander of Air Force Mortuary Affairs Operations at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware. He also previously commanded the 466th Air Expeditionary Group in Afghanistan.
