Kentucky politics is ripe with colorful figures and scandals from each period of its more than 200-year-old history.
Authors Robert Schrage and John Schaaf explore a great deal of them in their new book, Hidden History of Kentucky Political Scandals.
Among the issues explored is the assassination of Covington attorney William Goebel, who was sworn in as governor on his death bed after a contentious election that deeply divided the Commonwealth.
Other stories include a governor who pardoned his own son after a murder conviction, the detrimental BOPTROT federal investigation and more.
Schrage and Schaaf join Cincinnati Edition to discuss the book and its collection of historic events.
Listen to Cincinnati Edition live at noon M-F. Audio for this segment will be uploaded after 4 p.m. ET.
