Asian Food Fest Comes to Washington Park

Cincinnati's Asian Food Fest returns for its fifth year with a new location, new fun events and a new focus on more authentic cuisine.

Lam Dang, one of the organizers of the event, joined me for lunch at Pho Lang Thang, an upbeat Vietnamese restaurant located at Cincinnati's historic Findlay Market, to tell me about this year's fest.

The event continues to grow this year event planners are anticipating over 20,000 people to attend.  To accommodate (and feed) all of these folks, The Asian Food Fest has re-located to Washington Park in Over the Rhine.

A stronger focus has been placed on featuring a wider variety of foods that include the well-know classics, as well as the kind of foods one might find at a traditional home-cooked meal.  You can find traditional recipes from China, Japan, Thailand, Philippines and much more.

The arts and culture of the Far East will also be on display throughout the park, including performance by members of the Bing Yang Chinese Performing Art Center.

Aside from the featured ethnic food, arts and cultural events, festival organizers have also made room for a lot of fun - including a giant human foosball court located in the center of the park.

The 5th Annual Asian Food Festival is Sunday October 5th from 11am to 9pm in Washington Park.  More information is available at asianfoodfest.org.  Proceeds from the event will help to benefit the Asian-American Cultural Association of Cincinnati.
