westernreserve_map.jpg

This interview originally aired July 6, 2015.

If you never learned it in school, or just don'?t remember it, how the land boundaries of Ohio were decided as it became a state is a fascinating story. Much of the area we now know as Ohio was once owned by Virginia, Connecticut, and several high-profile private owners, including George Washington.Joining us to explore how Ohio came to be and the influence the state?'s early history has had on Ohio are Dr. Matthew Sauer, associate professor at the University of Cincinnati McMicken College of Arts and Sciences; Dr. William Russell Coil, writer and adjunct lecturer at The Ohio State University; and WVXU political reporter Howard Wilkinson.
