Cincinnati Council Member P.G. Sittenfeld and others will be on Fountain Square Wednesday at noon for "The Greater Cincinnati Day of Fasting."

Sittenfeld is asking residents to voluntarily forgo lunch in order to experience a small measure of hunger that's part of many people's daily lives in the city.

"The fight against hunger must be a top priority for our community," Sittenfeld said in a press release.  "This is both a moral issue, and it also greatly impacts the strength of our local economy.  I'm grateful to everyone who is willing to participate in this community-wide day of fasting, and to help care for the most vulnerable among us."

Sittenfeld is also asking participants to donate the money they would have spent on lunch to the Freestore Foodbank.
