CPS board members and city officials met in Mayor John Cranley's office in January to announce a tenative agreement on the issue of tax abatements, which the two parties had struggled with for the better part of a year.

The city of Cincinnati and the Cincinnati Public School District have been at odds for months over how much money should go to the school district from development projects and properties that receive tax abatements.

CPS President Carolyn Jones and City Councilman David Mann join Cincinnati Edition to discuss what is at stake in the tax abatement debate for the city of Cincinnati and for the school district.

Listen to Cincinnati Edition live at noon M-F. Audio for this segment will be uploaded after 4 p.m. ET.
