Blues with Lee Hay: 3.7.15 show

When was the last time you heard King Pleasure on the radio?  Well, here's your chance to hear a song from his Blue Note release, Moody's Mood for Love, recorded in NYC in 1962.  He's followed by a 1994 song by New Orleans favorite Johnny Adams, I Cover the Waterfront.  I thought it'd be fun to include KurtElling's version of Theodore Roethke's poem, The Waking, and also Tom Waits performing "Please Call Me Baby" from one of my favorite Waits albums, The Heart of Saturday Night.

The second set in this blues show, which airs at 11pm on Saturday, March 7th, includes songs by Jon Cleary, Jimmy Witherspoon and Red Garland.  These lead us into a jazz/blues vein, so we continue with Miles Davis on "Basin Street Blues," Sarah Vaughan's "Black Coffee," Harry Connick, Jr, and finally "Down the Drain" by the great KenNordine.
