How CPD's Social Worker Is Reaching Out To The Witnesses Of Violent Crimes

youtube.com

Karen Rumsey describes herself as the Cincinnati Police Department's best kept secret since 2014. A secret because many people do not know about her job as a social worker with the department and her outreach efforts with the victims of violent crime.

Rumsey leads the Victims Assistance Liaison Unit and founded the Cincinnati Citizens Respect Our Witnesses Unit, or CCROW, after the unsolved murder of teenager Kelsie Crow. The CCROW Unit provides witness protection and ensures witnesses feel comfortable testifying at trial.

Joining Cincinnati Edition to discuss the CCROW Unit is Cincinnati Police Departmenthead of the Victims Assistance Liaison Unit and health programs manager of witness advocacy.

Listen to Cincinnati Edition live at noon M-F. Audio for this segment will be uploaded after 4 p.m. ET.
