The Blues: 12.3.16 show

This week's blues show which airs on Saturday, December 3rd at 11pm, starts off with the classic R. L. Burnside song, It's Bad You Know, from the Sopranos soundtrack.  Bobby Rush has a cd out called "Decisions", and you'll hear "Another Murder in New Orleans" which also features Dr. John.  Dr. John's no stranger to violence. He no longer plays the guitar, because his hand was shot with a bullet.  During the first set of the show, you'll also hear from local drummer Doug Perry who's recently released a "Best of " cd with his Ensemble.  And finally, JW-Jones who's gotten quite a bit of attention in Canada.

The second set of this blues show begins with Derek & the Dominos, a new live song by Gary Clark Jr., then an interesting Take 1 version of "Subterranean Homesick Blues" by Bob Dylan from 1965, and finally two great guitarists, Lonnie Mack & Stevie Ray Vaughan, from their "Strike Like Lightning" album on Alligator Records.  Note: The Derek and the Dominos link above is to their performance on the Johnny Cash television show on 11/5/70.

You'll hear from Bonnie Raitt, Freddie King, and the Holmes Brothers in the third set.  And the show ends with a new one from Tommy Castro & the Painkillers, "Common Ground."
