Road Closures, Metro And Streetcar Updates To Know This Memorial Day Weekend

The 40th annual Taste of Cincinnati takes over parts of downtown this weekend.

With so much going on this weekend—and the fact that Monday is a holiday—the city of Cincinnati has issued a few advisories on what to expect as you try to get about town. 

Weekend-Long Closures

The 40th annual Taste of Cincinnati kicks off Saturday, May 26 at 11 a.m. and continues through Monday, May 28 at 9 p.m. As such, the following roads will close beginning Friday, May 25 at 6 p.m. and remain closed until Tuesday, May 29 at 5 a.m.: 

  • Fifth Street between Main Street and Columbia Parkway 
  • Columbia Parkway between Downtown and Sixth Street ramp 
  • Sycamore Street between Sixth and Fourth streets (access to garages will be maintained) 
  • Broadway between Fourth and Sixth streets 
  • Broadway will be converted to a temporary two-way traffic pattern between Seventh and Sixth streets 
  • Sentinel street 
  • Lawrence Street 
  • Fourth Street will be converted to a temporary two-way traffic pattern between Broadway and Pike Street 

Monday-Only Closures

On Monday, May 28, the Freestore Foodbank holds its Hunger Walk starting at 9 a.m. The following streets will close at 8:30 a.m. and remain closed until approximately 11:30 a.m.: 

  • Freedom Way between Elm and Rosa Parks streets 
  • Second Street between I-75 and Race Street 
  • Second Street exits closed from north and southbound I-75, as well as eastbound route 50
  • Elm Street south of Second Street 
  • Race Street south of Second Street (garage access will remain open) 
  • Central Avenue is restricted south of Third Street (only stadium/garage access will be maintained) 
  • Third Street eastbound between Gest Street and Central Avenue 
  • Mehring Way westbound between Joe Nuxhall Way and Smith Street 
  • W. Pete Rose Way between Central Avenue and Smith Street 
  • Clay Wade Bailey Bridge

Metro Detours

Metro is on a holiday schedule for Monday, May 28, in observance of Memorial Day. While Government Square will remain open during Taste of Cincinnati on Saturday, May 26 - Monday, May 28, several routes will be detoured beginning Friday at 6 p.m.:

These routes will return to normal on Tuesday, May 29 at 4 a.m. 
In addition, the following routes will be detoured on Monday only:

  • 31
  • 43
  • 78

Streetcar

The Cincinnati Bell Connector will run as usual on Saturday (8 a.m. - 1 a.m.) and Sunday (9 a.m. - 11 p.m.) On Monday, Memorial Day, it will operate on a holiday schedule of 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.
