Yahoo recently announced that at least 500 million of their users had their information stolen in 2014. And earlier this year the Internal Revenue Service said a cyber hack of its system gained access to personal data from more than 700,000 taxpayer accounts.

It's estimated that half of American adults have had their personal information exposed, and the danger from hackers to both individuals and organizations continues to grow.

Joining us to discuss cybersecurity and what you can do to protect your personal information are Northern Kentucky University College of InformaticsAssociate Professor, Dr. James Walden; Michael Picton, co-founder and vice president of Managed Detection & Response Services at Morphick; and Software Architect and Developer Dave Hatter.

The next Northern Kentucky Forum, You've Been Hacked, will take place Thursday, October 20, at 7:30 p.m. in the NKU College of Informatics Digitorium. For more information and registration, click here.

The 9th Annual NKU Cybersecurity Symposium will be held at the Northern Kentucky Convention Center on Friday, October 21 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. For information and registration, click here.

The Northern Kentucky Forum is a partnership of the NKU Scripps Howard Center for Civic Engagement, Skyward and Legacy.
