Maureen Corrigan, who can be heard reviewing books on NPR’s Fresh Air with Terry Gross, may have said it best: “It's not that I don't like people. It's just that when I'm in the company of others - even my nearest and dearest - there always comes a moment when I'd rather be reading a book.”
That sort of love of books is the reason 91.7 WVXU presents The Book Club @91.7, produced and hosted by voracious reader Mark Perzel. Tune in every Saturday morning at 7am on 91.7, 88.5 WMUB. Or, check it out online and via the station’s free mobile app.
As the title indicates, the show has elements of every good book club, and some that every good book club would love to have. Along with interviews with authors from all genres, including some of the wonderful writers who call Greater Cincinnati home, there are opportunities for listener interactions through social media, The Book Club @91.7 hotline - 513 352-9188 - and email at book@wvxu.org.
“We ask questions of our listeners and we want to hear your responses through social media or the hotline – some will be aired or read on the show – and occasionally, we plan on having readers in to be part of the interviews with their favorite authors,” according to Perzel.
