There are approximately 14.5 million cancer survivors in the United States. Once their treatment for cancer ends, many of these individuals find it difficult to make the transition to what becomes their new normal, where they must adjust to new feelings, new problems, and different ways of looking at the world. To help these survivors, a new field of cancer care called cancer survivorship has evolved. Here to discuss meeting the needs of cancer survivors are Dr. Beverly Reigle, director of the University of Cincinnati Cancer Institute'?s Cancer Survivorship Program; cancer survivor Beth Schiff; UC Cancer Institute Director, Dr. William Barrett; and Dr. Richard Curry, UC Cancer Institute hematologist and neuro-oncologist.
On March 26 the UC Cancer Institute Survivorship Program presents ?Transforming Cancer Survivorship: An Evening with Julia Rowland, PhD.?, Director, Office of Cancer Survivorship, National Cancer Institute. For information and tickets, click here.
