The Cincinnati Cyclones are preparing for game 1 in the Kelly Cup-- the championship series of the ECHL-- tonight against the Alaska Aces.
To get to the Kelly Cup finals Cincinnati had to beat the Greenville, South Carolina Road Warriors. Game six, the final playoff game was a close one.
The Cyclones haven't faced the Aces during the regular season. But in pre-season play the teams split 1-1.
Spokesman Ian Bolender is confident the team will do well. "I mean the reality is we don't face them during the season because they're on the west coast and in a different division but there are more teams on the east coast and it's a little bit more competitive over here so I think we've proven in the other match-ups against west coast teams, they're frankly just not as good as we are."
Cincinnati will come back home to play on Friday. It's a best-of -seven series. Bolender says the Cyclones are the only professional hockey team in North America that's seen an increase in ticket sales the last six years.
