The Marburg Avenue bridge, which connects Oakley and Hyde Park, re-opens to traffic Saturday afternoon.
A ribbon cutting is planned at 3 p.m.
The route has been closed since March. Crews demolished the old bridge, which city officials described as being "structurally deficient" and in poor condition.
The city spent $2.1 million on a new bridge that is wider, including a left turn lane onto Wasson Road, and has better sidewalks. The work was largely paid for with state and federal grant money.
Work on the project will continue into next month but is expected to have limited impacts on traffic.
Some nearby residents lobbied unsuccessfully to have the project span two years so traffic could be maintained on at least one lane of the old bridge. But City Council opted instead for the six-month closure so the work could be completed sooner and during one construction season.
