Mile markers coming to city trails

The City of Cincinnati will install mile markers on four paved hiking-biking trails, so if you need assistance you can get it more quickly.  The Otto Armleder Park Trail and Connector Trail, the Lunken Airport Trail, and the Ohio River Trail will all have numbered markers posted every tenth of a mile, much like on Interstate highways.

There are ten miles of paved trails along the East End, Linwood, Mt. Washington and around Lunken Airport.  “There are many times that the Fire Department cannot quickly locate people who may be in need of medical assistance while using the trails,” according to Assistant Chief Ed Dadosky.  “Permanently marking the trails enables Fire/EMS to respond to people in trouble in a much more timely manner.”

Mayor John Cranley said, “We’re committed to expanding our trail system in Cincinnati, and these markers help make sure it’s safe and user-friendly.”

According to a press release, the markers are a collaboration between the City of Cincinnati and Hamilton County Great Parks.
