Perry Schaible joined WKRC-TV news in 2010.

Update at 11:45 a.m. Monday, Dec. 2: Perry Schaible decided it's time to use her Northern Kentucky University law degree – and stop working weekends and holidays.

Schaible signed off as WKRC-TV's weekend morning anchor Saturday at WKRC-TV, where she had worked since 2010. She earned a law degree from NKU's Chase College of Law in 2013.

"I’ve really enjoyed my career at Local 12, but I decided it was time to move on at the end of my contract," she told me in an email Sunday.

"For the last year and a half I've served part-time as the managing attorney at Maggard Elder Law in Florence. I decided it is time to fully commit to my legal career. I’ll be there full time starting immediately. Can’t wait to enjoy a flexible schedule and holidays off."

Original post 9:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 29: WKRC-TV now needs three news anchors: Replacements for Rob Braun, Cammy Dierking and weekend morning anchor Perry Schaible.

Schaible announced Wednesday, Nov. 27, that she’ll do her final newscast Saturday, Nov. 30.

“Local TV has always been my dream and what better place to make that dream become reality than my hometown? I’ve been so lucky and privileged to call this my life and YOU my friends,”Schaible wrote on her Facebook page.

The Cincinnati native joined Channel 12 news in 2010 after writing for the Pulse-Journal newspaper in West Chester, freelancing for the Cincinnati Enquirer, and producing TV traffic reports. Three years later, the McAuley High School and Miami University alum graduated from Northern Kentucky University’s Chase College of Law.

Schaible and her husband have three daughters, according to her Local 12 bio.

“Like all good things, this too, must come to an end. It’s time for me to sing my swan song. I’m ready to sleep past 3 a.m., and enjoy my family on the weekend and holidays. I thank you so much for inviting me into your homes. I couldn’t have asked for more,” she wrote.

WKRC-TV has experienced an inordinate number of departures since owner Sinclair Broadcast Group ordered its news anchors to read a news commentary about media companies pushing “their own personal bias and agenda to control exactly what people think” in March 2018.

Dierking, the main co-anchor, leaves Channel 12 next monthwhen her contract expires.

Main co-anchor Braun, who left in June, talked about his departure on WVXU’s Cincinnati Edition in October, saying that Sinclair’s news model was “hard to swallow” and at times feeling like a puppet. Braun said he objected to the 2018 Sinclair news commentary because “they weren’t my words. Some of what was in that was true. And some of the things that we were required to say were not my words, and not the way I would say it, and I didn’t believe them.”

Reporter Jeff Hirsh retired in February; reporters Deb Dixon, Larry Davis and Joe Webb retired last year.

WKRC-TV also has not named a chief meteorologist since Tim Hedrick died in April 2016.

John Kiesewetter, who has covered television and media for more than 35 years, has been working for Cincinnati Public Radio and WVXU-FM since 2015.
