Roebling Suspension Bridge

A concrete shaft on the side of the Roebling Suspension Bridge holds an important tool for river safety.

The span has been closed for more than a year for renovation work. "We know that the businesses and citizens of Covington and Cincinnati are ready for the Roebling to be reopened," says Bob Yeager, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet's chief district engineer.

Winter weather has delayed the reopening of the historic span.

The Roebling was the first bridge across the Ohio River in 1866, and when completed was the longest suspension bridge in the world.
