Newly Weds latest example of job creation in Kentucky

Northern Kentucky is touting its ability to attract new companies and create jobs.  The latest jobs announcement involves a food breading company.

Governor Steve Beshear has been spending a lot of time in Northern Kentucky talking about job creation.

"It seems we were just here a couple of months ago making one such announcement."

Beshear was referencing the November L’Oréal expansion in Florence. He was back to welcome Newly Weds Foods, to Erlanger. The breading and seasoning company is investing 57 million dollars and will create 115 jobs. Operations Manager Stan Herrera took two years on the search.

"We started in a radius around Cincinnati, worked our way out and came back and then we found the perfect site and it's Northern Kentucky."

There has been some playful back and forth between the Ohio and Kentucky Governors over job stealing. Beshear said it's just competition.

"We do it obviously in the right way and we're all out to better our states but we also work together on a number of very important issues."

From September 2011 to September 2012 the Bureau of Labor Statistics said Kentucky was number two in the nation for job creation.

Beshear says this is a highly targeted business recruitment strategy focused on food manufacturers.
