A 26-year Cincinnati Police Department veteran is being promoted to assistant chief.
City Manager Harry Black announced Tuesday Capt. Eliot Isaac will fill the position.
“Captain Isaac’s background and experience brings a wealth of knowledge that I am confident will bolster our law enforcement and community engagement efforts,” said Harry Black in a press release.
Isaac replaces Paul Humphries, who retired last month and took a job with a private company in Florida.
Isaac joined the police department in 1988 and became a captain in 2004. He was currently serving in patrol administration. He was previously the District Four commander and also led the internal investigations section.
“We are glad to have Captain Isaac continue his service in an elevated capacity,” said Police Chief Jeffrey Blackwell in the release. “He is a great addition to our leadership team. I have no doubt his years of experience will serve our department well.”
The city charter gives the manager the right to select a candidate outside the department, but Black chose not to do it this time.
Black will swear-in Isaac Monday morning.
