Holly Morgan Moves To Mix 94.9 Mornings From Q102 Afternoons

Holly Morgan with Sandy McIlree

After 15 years on WKRQ-FM (101.9), Holly Morgan has moved down the hall to sister Hubbard station WREW-AM (Mix 94.9) to co-host mornings with Sandy McIlree.

"I'm excited for my new radio family. Even though I will miss being on Q102, I am looking forward to this new challenge and to starting a new phase of my career. So please come laugh with us and of course dance with us.... on 'The Sandy Show with Holly' on Mix 94.9," Morgan wrote on Facebook.

The shake-up comes a week after Mix 94.9 jumped into the Top 5 in the monthly Nielsen radio  rankings for the first time, joining fellow Hubbard stations WUBE-FM and WKRQ-FM. Cumulus' WGRR-FM was first in the June rankings, iHeartMedia's WLW-AM was second, and Hubbard's B105 and Q102 were third and fourth. Here are the changes:

Holly Morgan, a 26-year radio veteran and wife of country B105's Grover Collins, joins McIlree, who was hired last December from Austin, Texas. After McIlree worked six months with Mix morning hosts Ray Anderson and Karen Van Zant, the station on Monday launched  "The Sandy Show with Holly" (5:30 -10:30 a.m.).

Ray Anderson moves to Mix middays (10:30 a.m.-3 p.m.).

Karen Van Zant wrote on Twitter that Friday was her last day at the station: "It's been a blast the last 6 years but I decided it was time to move on." Jay Kruz, Mix 94.9 program director and 3-7 p.m. host, offered her part-time weekend work on all the Hubbard stations here, but "Karen has left to pursue another full time opportunity," Kruz said Tuesday.

Mollie Watson moves from Q102 nights to Morgan's former 10 a.m.-3 p.m. shift. Kruz says he's conducting "a nationwide search for a night host/multimedia personality on Q102." The job is posted here.

"I'm thrilled to have a dynamic personality like Holly join Mix 94.9. She knows our city like no one else, is an awesome mom, and has a strong social media presence," Kruz said in the station announcement.

"Holly has been such a great talent for Q102…. The whole staff is happy for her," said Patti Marshall, operations director.

Marshall also was pleased "to be able to grow a great local talent like Mollie Watson, who has the opportunity to pursue her goal of a midday show.”

Watson wrote on Facebook that moving to middays "wouldn't be possible without the encouragement, advice, and love from Holly Morgan over the past several years… You and Grover Collins are the best."
