When “American Idol” begins its final season Jan. 6-7, Fox will revamp Tuesdays, add Ciara Bravo’s “Second Chance” to Wednesdays and bench “Empire,” “Gotham,” “The Last Man On Earth,” “Sleepy Hollow,” “Bones” and “Rosewood.”

The midseason retooling starts Sunday, Jan. 3, with the premiere of two comedies, “Cooper Barrett’s Guide To Surviving Life” (8:30) and the animated “Bordertown” (9:30 p.m.).

The highly anticipated reboot of “The X-Files,” with original stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, airs 10 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, after the NFC Championship game on Fox.

Only six episodes of “The X-Files” will be produced this season. Scully and Mulder return for part two of the premiere 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 25, followed by the premiere of “Lucifer,” starring Tom Ellis (“Merlin”) as the Lord of Hell, a DC Entertainment comics character.

With “Scream Queens” ending its first season Dec. 8, Fox debuts a new Tuesday lineup Jan. 5 with the return of “New Girl,” followed by John Stamos’ “Grandfathered,” ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine” (moving from Sundays) and Rob Lowe as “The Grinder.”

Starting Wednesday Jan. 13, “American Idol” will be followed by “Second Chance,” a modern version of Frankenstein. Rob Kazinsky (“True Blood”) stars a 75-year-old corrupt sheriff’s deputy brought back to life as a 35-year-old with superhuman strength by billionaire tech-genius twins. Alexandria native Bravo (“Red Band Society,” “Big Time Rush”) plays the deputy’s daughter, Gracie.

Since Fox announced the show in May as “The Frankenstein Code,” it has changed the title to “Frankenstein,” “Lookinglass” and now “Second Chance.”

Other Fox moves:

“Sleepy Hollow”: Bumped from Thursdays by “Idol,” moves to 8 p.m. Friday on Feb. 5.

“Hell’s Kitchen”: Chef Gordon Ramsay grills contestants for a 15th season starting 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5.

“Gotham: Rise of the Villains”: Returns for spring 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 29, after "The X-Files" end.

“Rosewood”: The medical drama with Cincinnati native Gabrielle Dennis resumes 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 2.

“Empire”: After a three-month break, returns at 9 p.m. Wednesday, March 30.

Fox did not say when “Bones” and “The Last Man On Earth” will be back.
