My Guide To Marty Brennaman's Final Reds Games

Sep 4, 2019

Reds fans have just four opportunities to see or hear Marty Brennaman's last games at Great American Ball Park.

Brennaman will work only four of the final six home games – Friday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. He will not go on the season-ending trip to Pittsburgh Sept. 27-29.

Brennaman will call the Reds-Mets game at 7:10 p.m. Friday – but will be absent this weekend to attend his 15th annual CBTS Marty Brennaman Golf Classic benefitting the Reds Community Fund at Belterra Casino Resort. (He has raised more than $3 million for the fund.)

Tommy Thrall and Jeff Brantley will do the Saturday and Sunday games.

The "Month of Marty" is a wonderful way for fans to personally thank the Reds radio voice who has been the soundtrack of our summers for most of five decades. And the Reds owners should be thanked for insisting on this public farewell for Marty, who said for years that he wanted to walk away from the GABP radio booth without any fanfare.

"I feel very honored that the club is planning things," Brennaman said while announcing his retirement Jan. 16.

"I would have just as soon walked away after the last game, and announce that day that I'm leaving, but in many conversations I've had with Phil Castellini he made me understand that it's not fair to the fans, and it's not fair to the club. And I agree with that."

Here's the list of special Marty events this month. For ticket information, go to the Reds Farewell Marty page.
