'American Idol' Auditions Coming To Louisville, 18 Other Cities

If you want to try out in person for ABC's "American Idol" revival, the closest auditions will be in Louisville, Pittsburgh or Chicago.

Or you can submit a video audition online. Or do both, ABC says.

ABC has announced East and West audition bus tours, both starting August 17, in Orlando, FL, and Portland, OR.  The East tour stops Wednesday, Aug. 30, in Louisville and Sunday, Sept. 3 (Labor Day weekend) in Pittsburgh.

Eligible contestants must be 15 to 28 years old. Go to ABC's American Idol site for full eligibility requirements, submission forms and other details.  The online auditions sitealso has a frequently asked questions section.

The new "American Idol" will premiere on ABC next year with judge  Katy Perry. The network has not named the other judges or host.

Open auditions also are scheduled for Chicago on Sept. 11, and in New Orleans on Sept. 14.

East audition locations:

Aug. 25: Charleston, SC

Aug. 27: Asheville, NC
