St. Clair Township in fiscal emergency

Another township in Southwest Ohio is in fiscal emergency.

Ohio Auditor Dave Yost Thursday placed St. Clair Township in Butler County on the list of municipalities that need to clean up their finances. Last month Yost placed Hamilton Township in Warren County on that list.

St. Clair Township officials requested the auditor's review to find out whether the township's financial condition justified a fiscal distress determination. Yost says deficit fund balances of almost $25,000 and $190,000 warrant fiscal emergency. The township now has 120 days to come up with a plan to get things back on track.

Currently, statewide, 24 municipalities are in fiscal emergency.
