Banks construction street closure and design review

Provided, The Banks

Update 7/9/14 at 9:20am:  The concrete pours were delayed overnight.  Now rescheduled to begin (weather permitting) Thursday, July 10th at 1:00 a.m. and wrap-up by mid-morning.  Scheduled to be complete by Reds game start on Thursday 12:35 p.m.

Construction work on the next phase of The Banks project will shut down a section of Race Street early Wednesday morning.  The road will be closed between Freedom Way and Second Street from 2 a.m. until 10 a.m. Wednesday.

This will allow crews to complete a series of concrete pours as part of Phase IIA construction.  The work and the street closure are weather dependent.

Meanwhile the city's Urban Design Review Board will be meeting Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 to take a preliminary look at the new office building planned for The Banks.  That structure will house General Electric's Global Operations Center.

Construction on the project is expected to start later in the fall and be completed in 2017.

GE is expected to bring about 1,800 jobs to the site.
