The Hamilton County Sheriff's office continues to investigate an officer involved shooting in Elmwood Place.  It happened  at 1:31 p.m. Tuesday afternoon when the officer made a traffic stop at Linden Street and Highland Avenue on a green Dodge pickup truck.

A release says the officer and the driver of a pickup, Rodney Barnes, exchanged gunfire. Barnes was struck and pronounced dead at the hospital. The officer, identified on Wednesday as Officer Nicholas Arn, 25, was not struck.

Barnes is described as a 48-year-old Black male who was listed as a missing person after walking away from UC psychiatric emergency services. He was also wanted for aggravated robbery and having weapons while under disability out of Hamilton County.
