After A Decade Without A Grocery Store, What Will Avondale's New Market Look Like?

Avondale, one of Cincinnati's most populous neighborhoods, has been without a dedicated grocery store since 2008. That's earned it a designation as a "food desert" and sparked calls for help from those in the community.

But the neighborhood's long spell without a full-scale food market looks to end soon as a new store ramps up in the recently constructed Avondale Town Center. That's big news for a community that has long struggled with disinvestment, advocates for the neighborhood say.

Joining Cincinnati Edition to talk about the significance of  a new grocery store in Avondale are The Country Meat Company Marketplace owners Chanel and Tennel Bryant; and The Community Builders Director of Community Life Ohio/Indianapolis Reginald Harris.

Listen to Cincinnati Edition live at noon M-F. Audio for this segment will be uploaded after 4 p.m. ET.
