The Blues: 6.6.15 show

This week's Blues show, 11pm on Saturday, June 6th, begins with New Orleans native Wynton Marsalis, the great blues singer Nina Simone, and Cincinnati's own jazz legend Jimmy McGary.  Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra will be performing at Cincinnati's Riverbend Music Center on Saturday night, July 11th, and then heading up to the Rose Music Center at the Heights concert venue the next evening, Sunday, July 12th.

The second set of the Blues features three personal favorites: Chet Baker's "You're My Thrill,"  an sizzling version of the Dave Frishberg composition, "Peel Me a Grape" by Diana Krall, followed by the dynamic "Night Mist Blues" performed live at Montreux by the Monty Alexander Trio.

The last set begins with vocalist Ruth Brown who helped found the Rhythm & Blues Foundation. Also in this set, jazz icon Miles Davis, the high energy vocals of Ernestine Anderson, and finally the great Billie Holiday with "Love Me or Leave Me."
