Once he decided to write a movie about harness racing, Emilio Estevez says he knew Ohio would be the perfect setting.
"For me, this really offered not only a deep crew bench, it offered a very scenic city skyline. Great American Ballpark figures in the screenplay and we're going to endeavor to make sure we do everything we can to be able to shoot there. (Cincinnati) really fit the nature of the story," he says.
Estevez says the story is about a harness racer in the second act of his life. Production is set to begin in January and spend 37 days filming in the spring. The Greater Cincinnati & Northern Kentucky film commission says that's the longest any film has ever shot here.
Estevez estimates 1,100-1,1500 people will be hired for everything from cast, crew and extras.
The film is getting a $3.8 million tax credit from the state.
Estevez is the son of Dayton-native and fellow actor Martin Sheen. Estevez also jokes he chose Cincinnati to make his brother, actor Charlie Sheen - a big Reds fan - jealous.
