Celebrating The Holidays Among Interfaith, Blended & Nontraditional Families

Flickr, available for use

The holidays are considered a special time of bonding and celebration with friends and family. However, for some families, it?'s a bit more complicated.

Interfaith families may have conflict about which holidays to celebrate with the kids:? for instance, do you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah or both? There are also newly divorced parents whose kids may have to spend the holidays with their parents separately, or have to spend time with new step-family members.

Here to talk about the holiday season when it comes to interfaith or nontraditional families are Congregation BethAdam?'s Rabbi Robert Barr; the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati's Esther and Maurice Becker Networking and Mentoring Coordinator, Emily Gilgoff; and Professor of Social Work at the University of Cincinnati, Dr. Gary Dick.
