Information on the Medicare Open Enrollment Period

Medicare is our country'?s health insurance program for people age 65 or older, along with certain younger people, including those with disabilities and those who have permanent kidney failure. While Medicare helps with the cost of health care, it does not cover all medical expenses or the cost of most long-term care. The Medicare Open Enrollment Period under the Affordable Care Act began on October 15 and ends December 7. Here to provide information on what seniors should look for when choosing Medicare plans during enrollment are Laurie Petrie, communications director with Council on Aging of Southwestern Ohio; and Anne Fredrickson, project manager with Pro Seniors.
