Former NFL'er Ben Utecht Discusses The Aftermath Of A Concussion-Filled Career

provided

Former Indianapolis Colts and Cincinnati Bengals tight end Ben Utecht sustained at least five major concussions and countless micro-concussions in his playing career.

He was already starting to experience memory loss in 2011, when he was 30 years old. After retiring from football he launched a music career, and two years ago he released his single, "You Will Always Be My Girls," dedicated to his wife and daughters, whom Utecht fears he'll someday forget because of his brain injuries.

As a national speaker, author and advocate for brain health, Utecht works to raise awareness about the damaging nature of concussions. He joins us this afternoon to tell us about his new book Counting the Days While My Mind Slips Away:  A Love Letter to My Family.
