Cincinnati NAACP Launching Anti-Violence Initiative

Cincinnati's NAACP branch is joining the fight against violence in the city. The group is launching a “change in attitude about violence” campaign. It's called “STAND UP FOR PEACE”.

In a statement, the NAACP says the campaign is designed to include all races and economic groups, and is based on accepting personal responsibilities.

The program will begin as a low budget, high visibility campaign with banners, bumper stickers, signage and T-Shirts featuring the “STAND UP FOR PEACE" brand.

Here's the full release:

“STAND UP FOR PEACE” The Cincinnati Branch NAACP announces plans to assist in addressing the city’s spike in shootings and violence by creating a “change in attitude about violence” campaign. We believe that no organization or individual can pursue this goal alone This campaign is designed to include all races and economic groups. It is based on the primes of accepting personal responsibilities. It will identify and encourage initiatives for stopping the violence by standing up for PEACE. It will make a significant impact through a high visibility promotional campaign under the brand “STAND UP FOR PEACE”. Maximum tie-ins with existing and future efforts throughout the city will be acknowledged. “STAND UP FOR PEACE” will not supplant activities being implemented by other groups. The program will begin as a low budget, high visibility campaign with banners, bumper stickers, signage and T-Shirts featuring the brand “STAND UP FOR PEACE” so that the brand becomes imprinted in the minds and spirits of citizens. The brand is meant -- no matter how much or how few, with a group or with an individual, from prayer to volunteerism/activism - to encourage citizens of every age and neighborhood to do whatever they can to “STAND UP FOR PEACE.”
