Local Students Demonstrate, More Protests Planned

Dozens of Simon Kenton High School students protested gun violence in remembrance of the Florida school shooting.

A handful of Tri-state schools heeded a national call to demonstrate Wednesday against gun violence following a Florida school shooting earlier this month.

Dozens of Simon Kenton High School students gathered outside at noon chanting "Never again! We want change! We are not a number!"

WCPO reports the students were supervised by school officials who say they support the teenagers' First Amendment right to protest.

About 100 students at Dayton Regional STEM school walked out in support of gun control, according to the Dayton Daily News. One sign read, "STEM stands with Douglas."

Other demonstrations are planned for March 14, March 24 and April 20.
