CPS Board Member Ozie Davis Won't Be On November Ballot
Cincinnati school board member Ozie Davis III has failed to make the November ballot because his nominating petitions lack the required number of signatures.
Monday morning, the Hamilton County Board of Elections formally rejected Davis. He was well short of the 300 valid voter signatures he needed to become a candidate.
Four seats on the seven-member board are up for election this year, with three incumbents running for re-election.
Davis was one of seven applicants for the board vacancy after Timmons resigned. The appointment was made by the other six board members.
Through his firm Ozie Davis and Associates, he has become well-known in Avondale and other neighborhoods as a community organizer. He is a graduate of Walnut Hills High School and earned a law degree from Indiana University.
When Democrat Steve Driehaus represented Ohio's 1st Congressional District from 2009 to 2011, Davis worked as an aide to Driehaus in the district.
Davis could not immediately be reached for comment.
