WCET-TV, WPTD-TV And WPTO-TV Back On Air

WCET-TV, WPTD-TV and WPTO-TV resumed broadcasting at 11:40 a.m. today after nearly four days off the air.

Channels 48, 16 and 14 – and their digital subchannels – went dark at 5 p.m. Friday due to a failure of the master control power supply at ThinkTV in downtown Dayton.

WCET-TV has listed rescheduled air dates for more than a dozen shows which weren't broadcast since July 5, including the first part of American Experience's Chasing The Moon, Endeavor, Poldark and Showcase with Barbara Kellar.

The first two-hour installment of Chasing The Moon repeats on Channels 48 and 16 at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 14, and 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 16.

Part two, which airs at 9-11 p.m. tonight, will repeat 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 23, on both stations. Part three, which airs 9-11 p.m. Wednesday, replays 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 30.

Here's the link to rescheduled programs on Channels 14 and 16.

The part that failed is called the "multi-plexer," says Kellie May, WCET-TV public relations and digital media specialist.

"It was under our service contract with Harmonic, so the replacement was at no cost to the station. The issue was that this is such a rare piece to malfunction that there weren’t replacements immediately available," May says.

Cincinnati's WCET-TV (Channel 48), and Dayton's WPTD-TV (Channel 16) and WPTO-TV (Channel 14) are operated by Public Media Connect, a regional public media partnership of the Cincinnati and Dayton station serving viewers in Southwestern Ohio, Northern Kentucky and Southeastern Indiana.
