Reviving the Rust Belt: Hamilton's Comeback Story

cincinnati edition
Stakeholders want to bring the river more into the life of the city.

For more than a century Hamilton, Ohio was a major manufacturing city. Paper mills, safe companies, automobile parts manufacturers fueled the small city along the Great Miami River. Beginning in the 1960s those factories began closing, transforming it into the classic Midwestern Rust Belt city.

Many in metropolitan Cincinnati know little about Hamilton and have little reason to visit. As a result, the incredible effort of Hamilton to find a new role and new identity in the last decade has gone largely unnoticed.

Joining "Cincinnati Edition" to discuss Hamilton’s revitalization story are Hamilton City Manager Joshua Smith; and Hamilton Executive Director of Infrastructure Jim Logan.
