Butler County Sheriff
Christopher Lee Cornell, AKA Raheel Mahrus Ubaydah

ISIS sympathizer Christopher Cornell has a detention hearing set for Friday afternoon in front of Magistrate Stephanie Bowman.

The Green Township man was arrested Wednesday after trying to buy a couple of semi-automatic weapons and 600 rounds of ammunition in a plot that the FBI says Cornell told an informant about. The specifics are listed in the criminal complaint.

"build, plant and detonate pipe bombs at and near the U.S. Capitol, then use firearms to shoot and kill employees and officials in the U.S. Capitol."

After Cornell's arrest Wednesday morning at the Point Blank Range & Gunshop in Colerain Township he was taken to the Butler County jail.

Cornell has another court hearing scheduled for January 22. Both hearings are at 1:30. He is charged with attempting to kill officers and employees of the United States and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence.
