News anchor and "Morning Xtra" co-host Charisse Gibson premieres her "Cincinnati Connection" community affairs program on WXIX-TV and its Bounce digital subchannel next month.
"In a region with a rich African-American heritage, and diverse points of view, 'Cincinnati Connection' will give Fox 19 NOW an opportunity to examine stories which inspire, elevate and enrich the entire community," says the Channel 19 release.
You might need a DVR to watch the show. "Cincinnati Connection" episodes will premiere at 7:30 a.m. Saturdays on Bounce (19.2) starting Sept. 9, and repeat at 5:30 a.m. Sundays on Fox 19 (19.1).
"We hope 'Cincinnati Connection' brings leaders and citizens together to find solutions, foster understanding and celebrate the many good things happening in our community," said Debbie Bush, WXIX-TV vice president and general manager, in the announcement.
Gibson, a New Orleans native, said the new program "is a great opportunity to dissect and discuss important issues within the black community. Given the climate of America, these issues are relevant and -- while can sometimes be uncomfortable-- are critical to discuss publicly so that we may bring about change and understanding within our community."
Before coming to Channel 19, Gibson worked at TV stations in New Orleans, Shreveport and Biloxi.
