David Letterman "had a wonderful time" in Augusta, Ky., during his trip to interview Nick and Nina Clooney about their famous son," Nick Clooney tells the Maysville Independent-Ledger.
"He even took a ride on the Augusta ferry," Nick Clooney said.
"He was very funny, and he was impressed with Augusta…. Overall, it was a wonderful experience for everyone involved," Nick Clooney told the paper.
Letterman came to Augusta for a segment in his one-hour show with George Clooney on "My Next Guest Needs No Introduction" to be released by Netflix on Friday, Feb. 9. It's the second in his six monthly interview shows for the video streaming service.
Letterman spoke with George's parents and Hazim Avdal, a refugee who lived with the Clooneys until enrolling at the University of Chicago. Nick Clooney told the paper that he hadn't seen the episode yet.
"I'll see it when it airs. (Letterman) interviewed us and (Adval), but you never really know what will make it into an episode. They could film for two days and only put in 18 seconds."
Letterman did the interviews at the Augusta Pub, which will have a viewing party at 6 p.m. Friday, says pub manager Jackie Hopkins.
