This week on The Blues, 11pm, Saturday, September 26th, we're going to take a trip back into my past and some of the musicians I listened to back in the day. The show begins with Ten Years After followed by Bob Dylan, Galactic, and Mick Weaver's version of "Mercy, Mercy, Mercy" in the first set.
The second set features music from the great Mose Allison, Bruce Cockburn, Al Jarreau, Prince, and Phoebe Snow. The third set begins with guitarist Peter Frampton along with Rahsaan Roland Kirk (born in Columbus, Ohio), Taj Mahal, and the show ends with the Goshorn Brothers doing Pure Prairie League's "Two Lane Highway." Pure Prairie League is celebrating their 50th anniversary this year.
Taj Mahal's going to perform next Thursday, October 1st, at the 31st International Bluegrass Music Awards which are going to be streamed starting at 8 o'clock that evening.
